Erin has over 20 years experience acting for insurers and private clients dealing with everything insurance and risk related. She has experience in property damage, personal injury (including public liability and both statutory and common law workers’ compensation claims), product liability, as well as indemnity and fraud disputes, across all Australian jurisdictions, and all levels of state courts, state and federal tribunals, and the Federal Court of Australia.
Erin has a sharp attention to detail, which not only gives rise to a deep understanding of relevant issues in matters, but also an ability to identify issues which may otherwise go unventilated. This in turn can give rise to additional causes of action, grounds for defence, or the discovery of further evidence, as well as the identification of fraud or potential fraud. This allows Erin to expertly advise clients, and also to ensure that litigated pleadings she prepares for clients highlight all relevant facts and issues (and give the best prospect of success).
Erin is also a very skilled advocate, not only representing client’s interests in negotiations and mediations, but also regularly appearing (successfully) for clients in the Courts in contested applications.
While working mostly on instructions from insurers, Erin’s skills, and her down-to-earth, personable, nature have seen many insureds continue to seek Erin’s services long after the insurance claim resolves. This includes in relation to matters relating to risk and loss mitigation and how to prevent future claims on an insurance policy, as well as work traditionally outside the scope of ‘insurance work’.
With a passion for training and mentoring others, Erin regularly presents both internally to solicitors at Ligeti Partners, and also externally to clients and industry group.
Erin is a member of AILA and Women Lawyers of Western Australia.
